Where the Valley runs out of flat ground
Chatsworth backs into the Santa Susana Mountains, and the sandstone outcrops at Stoney Point and along the pass are the landmark everyone knows. Lots get larger and land gets steeper as you go north and west, and the neighborhood holds more open space and rural character than anywhere else inside the city limits of Los Angeles.
Horse country
Chatsworth keeps more horse-keeping zoning than any other part of the city, with stables, trails and properties set up for animals. If that is what you are looking for, this is the first place to look, and the zoning has to be confirmed parcel by parcel rather than assumed from the address.
The train
Chatsworth station is the strongest rail connection in the Valley: Metrolink into Downtown Los Angeles and out to Ventura County, Amtrak on the same platform, and the Metro G Line busway starting here and running east across the Valley. For a household where someone commutes downtown daily, that station is worth real money.
Schools
Attendance boundaries change, so check the specific address you are considering rather than relying on a neighborhood average.

Where do I look for horse property in Los Angeles?
Chatsworth first. It holds more horse-keeping zoning than anywhere else in the city, along with stables and trail access. Zoning is parcel by parcel, so it has to be confirmed for the specific address before you offer.
How good is the commute downtown?
Better than anywhere else in the Valley if you take the train. Chatsworth station has Metrolink to Downtown Los Angeles and Amtrak service, and the Metro G Line busway starts here.
Are lots bigger in Chatsworth?
Generally yes, and they get larger as you move north and west toward the hills. That range is why the neighborhood average tells you very little about a specific street.
